Minister Avcı presents Innovation in Education and Training Awards

Speaking at the award ceremony organized by the General Directorate of Strategy Development, Minister of National Education Nabi Avcı thanked all schools, students and teachers who had participated in the contest.

Minister Avcı stated that 1.047 projects competed for the awards and stressed that it was hard to make classification in such largely participated activities. “Due to this reason, we are trying to leave the competition concept aside and focus on transforming such activities into festivities and award all participants in some way. We try to avoid first, second or third winner terms as much as we can,” Minister Avcı said.

Minister Avcı stated that as it was impossible to introduce all 1.047 applications, the Ministry has decided to promote 88 applications at the regional level, 15 of them at the ministry level.

“We would be happy to share all these 1.047 applications with the public if only we had time and place to do it,” Minister Avcı said.

Noting that performance of some projects could be measured in various different ways with figures and percentages obtained from pilot implementations, Minister Avcı stated, “Our goal was allowing a good implementation to become an example that could be used in different schools and cities. We have to multiply by 20-30 thousand in an effort to understand the possible social impact of a project conducted at the school level.  You can see the synergy and effort behind these projects by taking these calculations into consideration.”
